Rumor: Immortals Fenyx Rising Sequel's Setting May Have Been Revealed Empty Rumor: Immortals Fenyx Rising Sequel's Setting May Have Been Revealed

When Immortals Fenyx Rising first released, a great deal of gamers took a gander at the open-world title and compared it heavily to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. While the games had similarities, many who got Immortals Fenyx Rising found that the Greek folklore inspired game was more than just a clone, and had a great deal of elements that made it worth playing. Enough individuals had this realization and purchased the game to the point that Ubisoft allegedly began working on a sequel to Immortals Fenyx Rising.

Reports came in earlier this year that a sequel to the open-world title was potentially in the works. Immediately, fans began speculating on what this sequel could seem to be. Considering the first Immortals Fenyx Rising title dealt with Greek folklore, it seemed to make sense that another game could depart from that and look towards another setting. Presently, apparently the sequel to Immortals Fenyx Rising will set out toward a Polynesian folklore focus, departing from a significant part of the foundations set by the first game.

This rumor comes from industry insider and games journalist Jeff Grubb, who mentioned this change in his Game Mess Decides podcast. Ultimately, Grubb indicated that the Immortals Fenyx Rising sequel is not a legitimate sequel and acts more as a spin-off to the first game. Allegedly as well, the Immortals title will be dumped, and the "production" name of the game is Oxygen You're a Hero, however it's obscure on the off chance that this is just an improvement name or intended to be the actual title. Like other late Ubisoft games such as Assassin's Creed Odyssey and Valhalla, the game will feature a decision of a male or female protagonist.

Also, Grubb goes on to say that the setting will feature a focus on Hawaiian and Polynesian folklore. While a ton of these new features sound like they will depart heavily from the first game, there will be some similarities between Immortals Fenyx Rising and its sequel or spin-off. There will still be a god narrator, for example and the visual style is purportedly the same. Ultimately, a great deal of these differences are supposedly being made so that the Immortals Fenyx Rising sequel can distance itself from Breath of the Wild.

While this does seem like a great deal of news on an Immortal Fenyx Rising sequel, fans shouldn't pause their breathing for the game. Grubb says that the game is in early pre-production with an extremely loose release date of 2025. It seems like this new game will require a ton of work to be done on it, especially considering the departure Polynesian folklore marks from both the main game of Immortals Fenyx Rising and its DLC, which hinted at a future Chinese folklore setting.
